Trump says US “highest end” munition stockpiles “not where we want to be
President Donald Trump late Monday touted US munitions stockpile levels, though noting that the supply count “at the highest end” is not where he wants it to be.
“The United States Munitions Stockpiles have, at the medium and upper medium grade, never been higher or better, Trump posted on Truth Social, later adding, “At the highest end, we have a good supply, but are not where we want to be. Much additional high grade weaponry is stored for us in outlying countries.”
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Dan Caine and others inside the Pentagon had warned ahead of US military action about the potential strain a larger operation in Iran would put on service members and assets deployed in the region, as well as how a protracted military campaign could further impact US weapons stockpiles, particularly as it relates to arms used in support of Israel and Ukraine, sources previously told CNN.
The president’s post comes after telling CNN’s Jake Tapper the “big wave” of the US attack on Iran is yet to come. As both US and Iranian officials signal a lengthy conflict, it also remains unclear how long Arab states can sustain their air defenses before depletion.
